Tari Jordan Eason born May 10, 2001)is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Cincinnati Bearcats and the LSU Tigers. Eason was selected 17th overall in the 2022 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets.

Eason started his high school career at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington under head coach Brandon Roy, and played sparingly during his first two years. Eason returned to Garfield for his senior season as Roy came back following a one-year break. He led his team to a 3A state title, recording 21 points and 14 rebounds against Paolo Banchero and O'Dea High School in the final, and received tournament MVP.  A four-star recruit, he committed to playing college basketball for Cincinnati over offers from Colorado and USC.

As a freshman at Cincinnati, he averaged 7.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game, earning American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team honors. For his sophomore season, Eason transferred to LSU.

Eason sees every potential defensive play. He just doesn’t pick his battles. Instead, he fights all of them. He knows he’s got rare athletic gifts: big hands, lateral quickness, strength. They allow him to make plays that others can’t.

Meanwhile, his preternatural gifts as a defensive player allow him to recognize opportunities to make those plays that mere mortals like scouts and basketball writers can’t see. When he tries to make those plays, and he fails, he looks like a low-feel player.

The results matter more than the process. It’s worth noting that Eason shot 35.9 percent from distance in college. If he could replicate that figure at the professional level, or even approach it, that would suffice given how much more he brings to the table.

Eason has a deceptively strong handle. That’s particularly valuable for a potentially elite defensive playmaker. He’s literally a one-man fast break: he can create the opportunity and finish it.

Eason was selected with the 17th overall pick by the Houston Rockets in the 2022 NBA draft. Eason joined the Rockets' 2022 NBA Summer League roster. In his Summer League debut, Eason scored fourteen points and thirteen rebounds in a 77–91 win over the Orlando Magic. On July 18, 2022, Eason was named to the All-NBA Summer League First Team.
