IPL 2021: Issue about Covid-19 Guidelines

Covid-19 is a serious issue nowadays. Especially for the upcoming 2021 IPL the standard operating procedure for players is a must. The officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the host for the second successive edition have come up with concern for the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL) 2021 season.

As a host BCCI informed all the squads that they will not be giving vaccines while players are in the tournament. If someone will test positive player will undergo 10 days quarantine to proceed for the tournament which will be monitored by “bubble integrity managers” who will report at all times.

India-England series will possibly make an exception from Quarantine Protocols. They will directly be sent to the charter flight then the team will go directly to their respective hotels. Players will be guided directly to go from the bubble created for the India vs England series that the BCCI created for them, then players might get an exception and will not need to go for a quarantine process.

Furthermore, if the Chief Medical Officer of BCCI will satisfy the arrangement between the players, then also the player will be excepted from quarantine and will not need to undergo RT-PCR Test.

The seven-day Mandatory Quarantine. The committee sets rules that anyone who will help or assist the players will be undergoing a compulsory 7-day quarantine in the hotel. Staff will undergo 3 tests then if all the results are negative that's the time they can come out from the quarantine area.

The 10-day isolation. As per BCCI Medical team advice, if players that will be testing positive within the bubble would need to undergo 10 days quarantine at a separate room or facility. While they are under quarantine on the 9th and 10th day will undergo an RT-PCR test if both results are negative then players and staff are good to go and re-enter inside the bubble. All staffs and players that are asymptomatic or experience mild symptoms or those got positive result from the RT-PCR test will undergo cardiac screening before they can resume the training.
