Gary Kirsten born on November 23, 1967 a South African cricket coach and a former cricketer. He is related to Paul Kirsten a South African first class cricketer and also Andrew Kirsten and Peter Kirsten he is the current coach of Ugandan national side.

Kirsten made his debut against in Australia in Melbourne in 1993. Against the same country he made a history by becoming a first-over protea to play in 100 matches .

Over the years Kirsten gained reputation of being a sturdy batsman in both Test cricket and One day cricket. He was also a reliable fielder. He was the first test batsman to make hundreds against each the other 9 Test nations. Kirsten held the South African records for most runs and the centuries test careers.

Coaching career of Gary Kirsten

After retirement he organized his own cricket academy. Kirsten was a candidate foe a vacant post coach for India Team. The company offered him a 2 year contract and confirmed he would taking the job.

Kirsten started being a coach on March 2008, he coached the India Team to the finals Kitply Cup and 2008 Asia Cup and their team loss in both match.
